Why the name “Perigee”?
When we named this product, we wanted a name that had a story behind it and that made people ask questions because we are a business dedicated to answering questions!
“The moon’s distance from Earth varies throughout its monthly orbit because the moon’s orbit isn’t perfectly circular. Every month, the moon’s eccentric orbit carries it to apogee – its most distant point from Earth – and then, some two weeks later, to perigee – the moon’s closest point to Earth in its monthly orbit.”
When the moon is at its point of Perigee, it provides a great light in the darkness of night. The Perigee app, in many ways, does the same thing, providing light to its users in the darkness of field resource management.
